SUMMARY:Compassion and the Foundations of Buddhist Practice
DESCRIPTION:with Samten Drime \nSamten will present the Foundations of Buddhism in the context of Chenrezig\, the embodiment of Compassion of all of the Buddhas. There will be practice sessions as well as talks. \nParticipants are welcome to come for the whole 10-day retreat\, or only part thereof. \nThe 3rd of March is the Tibetan New Year of the Water-Tiger. The first fifteen days of the lunar year are known as the fifteen days of the Buddha’s miracles\, when the Buddha\, who was usually reluctant to show his miraculous powers\, did display miracles in order to pacify challengers from other philosophical schools. Practice during these 15 days is considered most auspicious\, with the merit being multiplied millions of times. \nSamten Drime\nSamten is a Buddhist monk from Samye Ling Monastery in Scotland. He was raised in Zimbabwe and has studied and has done long retreats in the Karma Kagyu tradition of Tibetan Buddhism. \n\n\n\n  \n\nProgramme\n\n\n\n  6:00 – 7:00\nGreen Tara Prayers\n\n\n  7:00\nBreakfast\n\n\n  8:30 – 10:00\nSession\n\n\n  10:00 – 10:30\nTea\n\n\n  10:30 – 12:00\nSession\n\n\n  12:00\nLunch\n\n\n  14:00 – 15:30\nSession\n\n\n  15:30 – 16:00\nTea\n\n\n  16:00 – 18:00\nRest/Free time/Walk\n\n\n  18:00\nSupper\n\n\n  19:00 – 20:30\nSession\n\n\n\n  \nThe full retreat starts with supper at 18:00 on Thursday 3 March.
