Letting Go
October 20, 2023 @ 6:00 PM - October 22, 2023 @ 1:00 PM SAST
One day a donkey was walking along the road carrying a heavy load of baggage. He became very thirsty and finally spotted a little lake but it was way down off the road. So he took the load off his back, and ran to have a drink of water. When he came back the baggage was gone. In shock he exclaimed: “What am I going to carry now?”
Like a donkey in the story, we all feel attached to our baggage. We all have things that we could let go of and be better off, and our journey would be that much lighter! But we are very attached to our grief, pain, disappointments, judgments, attitudes, habits, etc. Those things keep us stuck, and keep us from experiencing being fully at home in our precious lives.
“If you let go a little you’ll find a little peace, if you let go a lot you’ll find a lot of peace. If you let go absolutely you’ll find absolute peace and tranquility.” Ajahn Chah
Letting go enables us to embrace change and new beginnings, and allows us to live in openhearted presence.
During this weekend we’ll be exploring a process of letting go of our attachments. Our days will include meditation, walks in nature, and gentle yoga.
